Purposes and objectives

The Yearbook of the “George Barițiu” Institute of History in Cluj-Napoca of the Romanian Academy is a periodical publication appearing regularly once per year, with a legacy exceeding 100 years. The journal calls for submissions of original research findings in the domains of history, art history, religious history, and international relations, encompassing the time frame from the Middle Ages to the present. Published materials—including studies, articles, book notes, and original reviews—primarily concentrate on the Romanian territory (encompassing its historical provinces), discussing its spatial and temporal connections with Europe and its influence on the configuration of international relations at both regional and global scales. The journal simultaneously invites innovative, interdisciplinary, and high-caliber submissions that provide fresh perspectives on world history and international affairs.

The Yearbook of the “George Barițiu” Institute of History in Cluj-Napoca of the Romanian Academy does not accept submissions that have been previously published, are now under consideration for publication, or are undergoing peer review elsewhere. The editorial office does not charge any submission, processing, or publication fees. All contributions undergo a double-blind peer review process.

The journal is released in both digital and print formats at the end of each calendar year. Submissions are published in Romanian and in widespread international languages such as English, French, and German. The deadline for submissions for each issue is April 30 of the corresponding year.
